Chloé Claverie and Nick West hail from the suburbs of their respective cities of Paris and Dublin and both came to photography through circuitous routes. Their early collaborations focused on kids and the imaginary tales of childhood and included shooting the first cover for Milk Magazine. These commissions have led Nick & Chloé to develop a unique approach to contextual portraiture, inventing stories to locate the point of intimacy with their subjects.
Their preoccupation with narrative has itself led to motion projects including collaborations with artists like Sam Tiba, Birdy Nam Nam, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and Zahia Dehar. Their work has been exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Berlin Kunsthalle, the Hamburger Bahnhof, and the Centre Pompidou’s Studio 13/16.
Select clients include Guerlain, Nike, Kenzo, Levi’s, Warner Music, EMI Records, Universal Music, Channel 4, HBO, BBC, PlayStation, Heineken, Absolut, Coca-Cola, Target, Audi, Volkswagen, Renault, Citroën, SNCF, Printemps, Mastercard, Club Med, Orange, and O2.
