Sallyanne (Sal) Massimini
A multiple VFX Emmy nominated and award winning filmmaker, SALLYANNE MASSIMINI not only has a fresh perspective and a strong visual thumbprint, but she's able to draw from her heavy visual effects background and tap into a wealth of experience and knowledge through her partnership with Master Cinematographers. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, storytelling has been a part of her life since she was a child - her sketchbooks were filled with storyboards and creatures. Focusing on painting and drawing, she graduated cum laude with a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Moving to Los Angeles, Sal became a visual effects artist and supervisor on commercials, television and features, accruing credits and awards, including two Emmy nominations. Work and clients include: True Blood, Banshee, Hemlock Grove, Fringe, Fast and Furious, Straw Dogs, Once Upon A Time, Prada, EA, Mountain Dew, and Dodge Ram. From there, Sal transitioned into directing 2nd unit for the television shows Greenleaf, Imaginary Mary and Step Up. She directed a short film, Niles Canyon, written by David Paul Francis which received an Audience Award for the California Women’s Film Festival. She has spent the last year directing commercials - her AUCTIV commercial was selected for the 2018 SHOOT Annual 16th New Director’s showcase. Sal was also in the writer's room this year as a creative consultant on the new Netflix show October Faction and is currently developing several of her own scripts. N.I., a new short film starring Giorgia Whigham (13 Reason’s Why, The Punisher) was just released in January 2019. Written, directed and produced by Sal, she and her team are the first to shoot a live action film on the new RED Hydrogen One phone. No matter what the medium is, storytelling is the root of everything for Sal, be it a film, a commercial, a photo or a drawing.
